1.1 Background
When I was handed this assignment I immediately knew what I was going to write about. I watch Judge Judy almost every afternoon when I come home from school. And I think that most of us at least once have seen one of these shows, where they sue each other for the slightest things.
What I find interesting about these TV shows it that they show how much the culture of suing differs in America from here in Sweden. Not only is the amount of summons in America enormous compared to Sweden. But also how there is a big economic aspect to it. It's crazy how big the indemnity many times comes out of lawsuits in the United States.
It doesn't quite work like that in Sweden, but it is possible to sue someone you have a dispute with – whether it is your neighbor, your mom, your insurance company or any other company.
