En inlämningsuppgift på engelska där eleven kort beskriver samhället i Indien (the society in India) genom att redogöra för bl.a kastsystemet och klyftan mellan män och kvinnor. Eleven jämför även Indien och Sverige, med utgångspunkt i dessa samhällsaspekter.

The Indian society has always, in many ways, been different, compared to the majority of other societies in the world. The caste system in India and the patriarchal system in the country are two examples of problems in the Indian society. These problems have become so common, that they are almost considered as normal. The thought of women being less worthy than men is another problem that is ancient, but is still in the minds of many Indians today. Compared to Sweden, the society in India is not equal in any aspects.
The caste system
All of the inhabitants in India are divided into social, and religious groups, so called castes. There are four castes in India that are arranged in a hierarchical way. The castes are: “brahmins”, “kshatriyas”, “vaishyas”, and finally “shudras”, which has the lowest rank in the hierarchy. There is a fifth “caste” that has such a low place in the society that it is almost non-existent. The people who belong in that caste are called “dalits” (... Köp tillgång för att läsa mer
