Science versus morality

The novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro deals with the idea of unethical practices in science. This is seen especially in Miss Emily’s speech during her last encounter with Tommy and Kathy.

The premise of the novel is that clones are created to give up their vital organs when they reach adulthood. Moreover, these clones are kept highly dependent on each other, as before they become donors, they must first be carers and take care of other donors. This can be seen as a cruel approach, upon reflection, as it implies that the carers are going to witness first-hand what is going to happen to them when they themselves become donors.
