Physical setting
The main setting of the short story "The Twins” by Muriel Spark is England, particularly Essex, the place where Jennie lives with her family. The physical setting is comprised of the house of the Reeves family, where all the unusual events take place.
Particular attention is given in the second part of the story to the narrator’s room and the kitchen. The narrator has found some biscuits which she assumes are from Jennie: “’… don’t eat biscuits in your room if you wouldn’t mind. Jennie was rather upset when she saw the crumbs but of course she’d have a fit if she knew I’d told you. She’d die rather than tell you.’”
